Design Manager

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join an exciting new start up Project Management and Construction consultancy in Oslo, Norway. In this role, you will be supporting the delivery of major data centre projects across Norway and the wider Nordic region. This role is central to coordinating and managing the design process, with a strong focus on mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the design process for new build and expansion data centre projects.
• Manage M&E design activities (cooling, power, UPS, generators, fire protection, security systems).
• Oversee external consultants, contractors, and specialist vendors to ensure design quality and compliance.
• Ensure designs meet client requirements, industry standards, sustainability goals, and local regulations.
• Drive value engineering initiatives to balance cost, efficiency, and performance.
• Manage design reviews, technical submittals, and approval processes.
• Support permitting, planning applications, and regulatory approvals.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, construction teams, and client stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership during design, procurement, and construction phases through to commissioning.
