Jobbeskrivelse

The Senior Business Development Manager serves as one of CTS’s principal technical ambassadors to the European data centre industry.

This is not a traditional sales or commercial role.

Instead, the position focuses on developing trusted relationships with senior client organisations, consultants, technology partners, OEMs, investors, and other market stakeholders by demonstrating CTS’s engineering excellence, integrated delivery capability, and ability to solve complex project delivery challenges.

The successful candidate will engage with executive leadership, engineering teams, programme directors, and technical decision-makers throughout the project lifecycle, positioning CTS as the preferred engineering and delivery partner for data centre be they colocation, cloud service or AI factories.

Drawing upon a strong engineering background and extensive industry experience, the Senior Business Development Manager will help clients understand how CTS’s integrated approach—including design, engineering, off-site manufacturing, modularisation, digital engineering, testing & commissioning, and project delivery—creates measurable advantages in quality, speed, certainty, and value.

This role requires exceptional technical credibility, commercial awareness, and relationship management skills, combined with a deep understanding of the data centre industry and its evolving technical and operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Client Engagement

  • Develop and maintain long-term executive relationships with hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, AI, cloud, and mission-critical data centre operators throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe.

  • Establish CTS as a trusted engineering and project delivery partner with senior leadership, engineering directors, programme managers, and executive stakeholders.

  • Engage regularly with consultants, engineering practices, developers, investors, contractors, and infrastructure stakeholders to strengthen CTS’s market presence.

  • Build relationships based upon technical excellence, delivery capability, and long-term strategic value rather than transactional opportunities.

  • Utilize personal and CTS group knowledge and engineering excellence to identify and successfully drive data centre project business to CTS.

  • Take both an account based and a territory based approach to opportunity identification, development and execution.

Technical Business Development

  • Promote CTS’s integrated engineering, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and digital delivery capabilities across the European market.

  • Demonstrate the advantages of CTS’s integrated delivery model, including accelerated design programmes, superior engineering standards, reduced project risk, modularisation, and factory-based delivery.

  • Support clients in evaluating engineering strategies, delivery methodologies, procurement approaches, constructability, modularisation, commissioning strategies, and programme optimisation.

  • Provide high-level technical guidance during early project planning and feasibility discussions.

  • Position CTS as an advisor capable of supporting complex engineering and programme delivery challenges.

Market Development

  • Identify emerging market trends, investment activity, and infrastructure opportunities throughout the European data centre sector.

  • Develop relationships with key market influencers including consultants, OEMs, technology providers, utility companies, developers, and industry organisations.

  • Represent CTS at conferences, technical forums, industry events, executive roundtables, and client workshops.

  • Continuously strengthen CTS’s reputation as a market leader in integrated data centre delivery.

Client Support

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the early stages of project development.

  • Help clients understand how CTS’s engineering capability can reduce programme duration, improve technical quality, minimise project risk, and optimise lifecycle value.

  • Coordinate internal CTS subject matter experts to support client technical discussions.

  • Facilitate executive meetings, technical workshops, capability presentations, factory visits, and strategic engagement sessions.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with CTS engineering, design, manufacturing, digital engineering, project delivery, commissioning, and executive leadership teams.

  • Coordinate technical resources to ensure consistent messaging and exceptional client engagement.

  • Support the development of technical presentations, capability statements, thought leadership, and strategic client material.

  • Share market intelligence to support business planning, product development, and future capability expansion.

Industry Leadership

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of developments within the data centre, energy, digital infrastructure, and mission-critical industries.

  • Develop strong working relationships with major equipment manufacturers, technology partners, engineering consultants, and strategic suppliers.

  • Promote collaboration across the wider data centre ecosystem to support successful project outcomes.

  • Act as a respected industry representative for CTS within the European market.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Professional Engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) is desirable.

  • 5–10 years of experience within the data centre or mission-critical infrastructure sector.

  • Proven experience supporting clients through engineering, design, programme delivery, or technical advisory roles.

  • Strong understanding of data centre design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and operational requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex engineering concepts to executive, commercial, and technical audiences.

  • Extensive experience engaging with senior client stakeholders, consultants, engineering organisations, and programme leadership.

  • Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies, procurement models, risk management, and engineering governance.

  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and relationship management skills.

  • Ability to develop trusted advisory relationships built upon technical credibility and professional integrity.

  • Willingness to travel throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland, and mainland Europe.

Preferred Experience:

  • Data centre development and delivery.

  • Mission-critical engineering.

  • Integrated project delivery.

  • Design management.

  • Off-site manufacturing and modular construction.

  • Digital engineering and BIM.

  • Digital Twin technologies.

  • Testing & Commissioning.

  • Major capital programme delivery.

  • Engineering consultancy or owner’s engineer environments.

  • Hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, AI, or cloud infrastructure.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Development of strategic client relationships across key European markets.

  • Growth of executive engagement with target clients and industry stakeholders.

  • Increased market awareness and recognition of CTS capabilities.

  • Successful positioning of CTS during early project planning and engineering discussions.

  • Growth in consultant engagement and specification opportunities.

  • Quality and frequency of executive meetings, technical workshops, and capability presentations.

  • Development of strategic partnerships with consultants, OEMs, and industry stakeholders.

  • Contribution to long-term project opportunities aligned with CTS’s integrated engineering and delivery capabilities.

  • Effective sharing of market intelligence to support strategic planning and business growth.

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to shape the future of one of Europe’s fastest-growing data centre engineering and delivery organisations.

  • Direct engagement with the industry’s leading hyperscalers, developers, consultants, investors, and infrastructure providers.

  • Exposure to landmark mission-critical projects across Europe.

  • Collaboration with world-class engineering, manufacturing, digital delivery, and project teams.

  • A highly entrepreneurial environment where technical excellence, innovation, and client success define everything we do.

  • Significant opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and long-term career development within CTS Group.
