Data Engineer and Logging Geologist Flexi Role OFFSHORE

Halliburton has a position available for suitably qualified person to work as Surface Data Logging (SDL) flexi role. Flexi role refers to individual capable of incorporating duties as both Logging Geologist and Data Engineers within our organization in Norway. Work is primarily OFFSHORE and a degree of flexibility in work schedule is required. Flexi staff worker are offered a core schedule of 4-4-3-3-3-3 (4 weeks available period, 4 weeks on reset, 3 weeks available period etc.).

The role of Halliburton Data Engineers is to monitor offshore activities ranging from drilling, running casing, cementing, completions and other drilling related operations. These activities are monitored using various surface sensors that measure critical parameters of drilling operation. Some of the critical parameters monitored are gas readings, drilling equipment and total fluid volume. Jointly, this monitoring provides our customer with a clear overview of the well, its condition and progress, while ensuring no unintentional release of fluid to the environment. This allows our customers to drill safely and efficiently.

The role of Halliburton of Logging Geologists is to travel to our customer’s installations offshore to perform geological sampling of the formations being drilled. This practice is used to determine what formation is being drilled through, where formations start and finish, if they have reached a specific formation and other geological analysis. Our Logging Geologists also help monitor our gas equipment and maintain and update relevant paperwork required for a safe and efficient drilling operation.

SDL Flexi Role staff may be called upon to support other roles with the department such as advanced gas engineer OR advanced cuttings analysis (XRF and XRD). Suitable training is provided. Therefore any prospective candidate should be versatile, well motivated and eager to delivery high quality for multiple services.

Core Job Activities:

Logging Geologist

• Collecting Samples of rock formation
• Geological analysis of rock samples, written and digital lithology descriptions, creation of digital lithology plots/logs
• Review, comparison and correlation of lithology with LWD data where available
• Sample collection packaging, administration and backloading
• Assist in operation and troubleshooting of offshore SDL equipment
• Drilling parameter monitoring and interpretation of data (well monitoring)
• Proactive planning and reporting to SDL colleagues, Drilling Supervisor, Wellsite Geologist and Halliburton Service Pushers (where relevant)
• Shift work offshore – Logging Geologist can require a degree of physical exertion/high physical activity – a strong focus on good HSEQ working practices is required

Data Engineer

• Drilling parameter monitoring and interpretation of data (well monitoring)
• Following a client reporting as per a defined communications protocol
• Daily contact and reporting on rig operations
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of offshore SDL equipment
• Proactive planning and reporting to SDL onshore leadership, Drilling Supervisor, Wellsite Geologist and Halliburton Service Pushers (where relevant)
• Strong focus on HSEQ, hazard hunts, JSA risk assessments, HSEQ reporting and service quality focus
• Shift work offshore – Data Engineering can require a degree of physical exertion/high physical activity – a strong focus on good HSEQ working practices is required

Advanced Gas Engineer

• Operations of advanced gas extractors (heated gas extractor systems), control systems and analyzers (C6+ hydrocarbon and inorganic gas species analyzers)
• Strong ability to operate, calibrate and closely monitor equipment to ensure high fidelity data
• Daily contact and reporting on rig operations
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of offshore SDL equipment
• Basic aspects of advanced gas and LWD interpretation and correlation with drilling
• Strong focus on HSEQ, hazard hunts, JSA risk assessments, HSEQ reporting and service quality focus
• Shift work offshore – Advanced Gas can require a degree of physical exertion/high physical activity – a strong focus on good HSEQ working practices is required

Qualifications

• Minimum of at least 4-5 years offshore experience. Looking for at least 1-2 years experience as data engineer and also 1-2 years as a logging geologist. Years spent in other relevant offshore positions focused towards drilling operations will be considered
• Additional experience with advanced gas services, XRF or XRD is advantageous
• Requires a Bachelor or Masters Degree in Petroleum Geology or Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Computing Sciences or Programming
• General knowledge of computers, network principles and software (Windows XP, Office software and basic trouble shooting)
• Experience with general mud logging duties, equipment and relevant sensors is highly advantageous
