Country Manager – Abbott Diabetes Care (Medical Devices)
About the Role
Abbott is looking for a strategic and inspiring Country Manager to lead our Diabetes Care division in Norway. In this key leadership role, you will translate divisional strategy into a localized business model, ensuring both short-term execution and long-term growth. You will lead a high-performing team, drive operational excellence, and represent Abbott with key external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Execution
- Translate global strategy into a localized, actionable business plan for the Diabetes Care division.
- Inspire and engage the team to take ownership and deliver results.
- Define key performance indicators, manage resources, and adjust plans as needed.
- Conduct strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats analyses and apply business models to define sales direction and growth.
- Ensure alignment of local plans with global strategy.
- Lead forecasting, budgeting, and business reporting processes.
Operational Excellence
Monitor performance against forecasts and budgets, taking timely corrective actions.Ensure accurate and timely business reporting.Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including government bodies and regulatory agencies.People Leadership
Set clear goals and expectations for teams and individuals.Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and high performance.Recruit, develop, and retain top talent.Lead long-term organizational and talent planning.Ensure compliance with Abbott’s reporting and field event return requirements.Recognize and reward performance in line with company policies.Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field (preferred).Minimum ten years of experience in the medical device industry, with at least five years in senior leadership roles.Proven success in commercial operations, including sales, marketing, and reimbursement models.Strong experience in managing profit and loss, financial oversight, compliance, and cross-functional leadership.Ability to lead in a complex, matrixed, and multicultural environment.Excellent coaching, communication, and self-management skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office toolsFluent in Norwegian and English.Strong knowledge of the Norwegian healthcare market and culture.Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
