About the position

As a Software Engineer at Dignio, you’ll play a key role in developing, maintaining, and optimizing both new and existing backend services. You’ll build services that enable doctors and healthcare providers to respond to patient health alerts in real time, preventing critical health incidents and improving patient care. This role is mainly backend-focused, but we value a grasp of modern frontend development and a willingness to collaborate across the stack.

We believe some of your responsibilities will be to :

Design, develop, and maintain scalable services and APIs for our backend web application(s)
Translate product and user needs into high-quality technical solutions, and be part of deciding what we choose to build
Work in cross-functional product teams and collaborate closely with product managers, designers, app developers, and other software engineers
Write clean, reusable, and testable code that meets our high-quality standards
When needed, development and maintenance of our client-facing web application
Optimize system performance across devices and geographies, ensuring seamless user experiences
Take part in our DevOps culture to ensure high availability, security, and observability
Maintain solid documentation and contribute to process improvement and how we work with development
Live after our Quality Management System to meet healthcare compliance and safety standards.

Who we believe you are

First of all, we believe you enjoy solving complex problems through code. We also believe you have :

4+ years of experience with backend development of web applications

Solid experience with Python and FastAPI and / or Flask

Experience with database technologies like PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy

Proficiency with tools like Git, Docker, and CI / CD pipelines, and have a commitment to clean, maintainable, and scalable code

Experience working in cloud-based systems (AWS / GCP / Azure)

An ambition to be part of deciding what we build, why, and how we build it

Ability to reason about architecture and communicate trade-offs of choices and decisions clearly

Understanding of design patterns (e.g. dependency injection, service layers, etc.)

Professional fluency in Norwegian (much of the documentation and many user interactions in healthcare are in Norwegian), in addition to strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

Ideally, you also have experience with :

JavaScript / TypeScript for backend (Node.js or Next.js) and frontend (React).
