Offer Description

The Department of Computer Science has two 100% permanent positions as Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence.

Your main duties and areas of responsibility will be to :

  • teach and supervise at bachelor’s and master’s levels
  • help develop the department’s study and degree programs
  • perform academic administrative tasks
  • be a driving force in the development of large-scale research projects and applications for external funding together with colleagues in the academic community
  • take the initiative to and further develop research collaborations with national and international partners
  • guide students, including Ph.D. candidates, in their research and professional growth
  • developing and enhance AI curricula and academic programs

Qualification requirements

  • doctoral degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field
  • proven academic record in research activities with dissemination or publication in one or several of the following areas within advanced AI research and development, including bio-inspired AI, machine learning, deep learning, data science, and applications like computer vision, NLP, autonomous systems, and AI security, safety, or ethics
  • educational pedagogical competence in accordance with OsloMet’s Guidelines for the assessment of educational competence at OsloMet
  • written and oral proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, and English
  • Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, shall be offered Norwegian courses, and must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of appointment.

  • teaching experience, skills, and enthusiasm for instructing and mentoring bachelor’s and master’s students
  • flexibility in adapting teaching and research to meet departmental and OsloMet’s needs, including interdisciplinary collaboration
  • demonstrated capacity to go for external research funding independently, and / or leading and participating in research initiatives, projects, and collaborations
  • actively contributing to the continued development of high-quality education in the department such as course development activities
  • capability to foster a supportive environment, develop research projects, and demonstrate innovation
  • good collaboration and communication skills
  • ability to share scientific knowledge and engage with the public through media, lectures, and community involvement
  • strong written and spoken communication skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language
  • Personal suitability will be emphasized.

    The position is paid in accordance with the Norwegian State main tariff agreements and OsloMet's salary policy in position code 1011 Associate professor NOK. 667 700 – 821 100. For particularly well-qualified applicants, a higher salary can be considered.
