Carte Blanche is seeking a unifying and articulate Artistic Director with a strong artistic vision and solid experience in creative processes and performing arts production. The position entails responsibility for developing the company’s repertoire and artistic profile, as well as building audiences both at the new Sentralbadet Scenekunsthus in Bergen and through national and international touring.
As Artistic Director, you will be the senior manager responsible for the organisation as a whole. In dialogue with the dancers, invited artists, and the rest of the company, you will build a working culture characterised by collaboration, professionalism, and community. You will promote high-level artistic development, manage resources and operations in a sustainable manner, and closely monitor the creative process – from concept to final production.
We are seeking a leader who wants to build strong teams and provide direction in an international environment with a diverse range of ideas, opinions, and experiences. You are visible, courageous, and responsive. You are capable of making decisions, standing firm in the face of adversity and generating engagement for the company’s work. In addition, you are comfortable serving as a distinct voice in the public arena. You have a relevant network in the field of dance art, both nationally and internationally, and an understanding of Bergen as a cultural hub, as well as of Carte Blanche’s role as a national institution.
The Artistic Director should live in Bergen and be in close contact with the cultural life of the city and region. The company's working language is English. The Artistic Director reports to the board of directors, and the position is a four-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.
