Job description

We are looking for a HVAC Supervisor for Vard Accommodation AS, a Fincantieri Company.

An HVAC Supervisor is accountable for the HVAC-R package delivery to the final customer, in accordance with each project requirement, quality, scheduling and budget.

He / She is also accountable for HVAC-R installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.

Activities

The HVAC Supervisor is responsible for the following :

  • Knowing the relevant part of ship specification for the project of their responsibility.
  • Define a schedule with production manager HVAC at the beginning of each project.
  • Provide a report against the handover before the ship leave the yard to the final outfitting destination.
  • Planning of production and commissioning activities in accordance with main ship plan.
  • Manage manning to achieve the projects milestones.
  • Keep good communication with internal and external clients.
  • Perform HVAC installation and commissioning activities.
  • Prepare areas and items for inspection with owner or yard representative.
  • Act proactively to manage remarks / nonconformities / punches from receival to closing.
  • Anticipately and proactively identify and resolve potential problems that can cause inefficiencies or extra costs for the company.
  • Assign consistent and continuous work to manning.
  • Constantly monitor the performances of the subcontractor to match the historical KPIs and advise the manning on how to improve.
  • Provide the necessary documents and clarify all doubts of the foreman and subcontracted resources to perform the designated activities.
  • Interface with purchase and warehouse that all material is available for production.
  • Report daily installation and commissioning progress to the HVAC manager and weekly to the planner and HVAC manager.
  • Report weekly the activities that cause deviations from the SOW using the agreed reports and formats to the COP and HVAC manager.
  • Report failures and damages of equipment during commissioning and extra costs due to waiting time and purchase of new materials to the COP and HVAC manager.
  • Report the weekly usage of consumable to the warehouse manager.
  • Request materials to the warehouse manager, purchase dpt., COP, and HVAC manager if the stock is low.
  • Provide Sketches to VDE in case of As Built solutions.
  • Provide sketches and references to purchase department and COP in case special materials must be ordered.
  • Additional relevant task might be added in agreement with closest superior.

The HVAC supervisor has the authority to :

  • Manage manning involved on the project to perform the SOW and extra activities necessary to accomplish the main task.
  • Request parts to the purchase department upon providing proper information and keeping the correct persons in the loop.
  • Temporary suspend the work in some areas and prioritize other areas in accordance with the other involved disciplines while keeping the proper communication.
  • Suspend work if in conflict with HMS regulations.
  • Approve extra work due to collisions, adjustments, etc. while fulfilling the main task.
  • Call in the additional commissioning and provision resources in accordance with the HVAC manager.
  • Requirement

  • Vocational school (can be replaced with relevant experience).
  • Good level of spoken and written English.
  • Knowledge of safe work methods and practise.
  • Knowledge of tools and materials used in HVAC installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Basic knowledge of class rules, SOLAS, USPHS
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to use the office package, especially MS word and excel.
  • Ability to understand constructive drawings and functional drawings.
  • Ability to use viewer for 3D drawings.
  • Personal abilities :

  • Knowledge of HVAC-R systems and overall understanding of schematic drawings
  • Good leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Manual skills to perform small installation activities and commissioning activities.
  • Ability to read and understand instruction manuals and use of tools.
  • Must be able to work in team, must be self-driven, reliable, and responsible.
