Assignment Description
The role as Cost Controller consists of establishing budget, updating / maintaining cost estimates and maintaining cost reporting systems. The Cost Controller will be responsible for budgeting, cost control and reporting. The Cost Controller’s main focus will be the Vale Decommissioning project and the Oda Decommissioning project and in addition supporting other Operated activities in way of cost control / reporting.
- Prepare / Revise the Master and Current Control Estimate (MCE / CCE) and Project Control Basis.
- Timely delivery of reporting (Weekly / monthly and quarterly)
- Alignment between cost and change control database (PIMS) and Excel.
- Building excellent working relationships within the team
- Preparation of input to License Budgets & Project Approval for Expenditures (AFE’s) and support coordination of their approvals. This will involve liaising with finance and asset managers.
- Tracking of expenditure against License budgets and AFEs, and ensuring change control processes are followed. Ensuring that the Project Work Breakdown Structure is aligned within the Cost Control system and ERP (Visma).
- Preparation and collation of updated project cost estimates as the work progress including baseline updates. Prepare and maintain Excel spreadsheets as required.
- Tracking and analysing cost data to establish trends, identify issues and put forward recommendations for improvements.
- Working with contractors to ensure maximum accuracy for cost reporting
- Proactively tracking, validating, and reporting on Purchase Requisitions and Orders, Service Orders, Variation Orders and Invoice Payments.
- Presentation of cost performance or status in License meetings when requested (TC,AC,MC)
- Preparation of monthly cost reports for submittal to the Project Teams, Project Management Function and License Partners
- Review and challenge contractor cost reports
Qualifications
A degree level qualification related to Project Management, Project Controls, Cost Engineering, Economics or Business Management3-5 years of experience in cost engineering and / or cost control as part of relevant larger development projects or decommissioning projectsExperience of collaborating with cross functional teams and matrix organisationsExcellent working knowledge of Microsoft365 working tools, including advanced use of Excel is essential. Some PowerBI experience is beneficial.Experience of project management tools is beneficial. PIMS and Visma.Project execution experience across most of the project phases is important. This position requires a resource that can work independently, learn and understand the projects requirements, and independently identify which activities are necessary to fulfil the (cost) services required by the project. This will require an understanding of the numbers being processed in relation to the work scope, schedule, contractual and commercial agreements.
