Tranby03 / 05 / 2024

At Tranby we provide an ‘all through’ education from 3 to 18 years for both boys and girls. Every aspect of school life complements the others, and it is precisely this rounded education which produces independent and confident young people with the drive to make the most of every opportunity and a desire to make a difference in the world. Pupils in the Prep and Senior Schools have a wealth of opportunity to work on collaborative projects which support the coherent educational journey we provide. The academic heart of the school is characterised by the warm relationships between staff and students, which balance a careful blend of support and challenge. We are academically selective, but not narrowly so, and we place very great importance on the nurture and development of the talents of each individual student. This is not a school to force anyone into a mould, and we are very proud of that. Our size allows for small classes, but we are large enough to be able to offer a wide range of subjects and an impressive extra-curricular programme. United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. The subject specialists, Group-wide intranet, own curriculum, and online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. As a Group, we can reward our staff better : with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’. We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options. United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check. Here at United Learning, we are committed to ensuring our employees feel valued and appreciated. Because we are a group, we can reward you better than any school could alone, and this includes your employee benefits. is some information about the benefits available to United Learning.

    What do our staff say?

Whenever I have had a problem, I have spoken to the leadership who have listened, appreciated honesty and endeavoured to try to find a solution quickly showing understanding and sensitivity where necessary. The wellbeing and pastoral care of the children have always been of paramount importance, and since the beginning of this school year; staff wellbeing has been a key focus. There has been a real emphasis on embracing and developing a long-term staff wellbeing plan."

Teaching has changed so much over the years and there are so many demands put on us each day. However, with the positive and encouraging leadership and structures that are in place, I feel that we can only continue to move forwards for the better.”

I love working at Tranby. There have been many changes in recent years, swift changes but relevant and positive. I feel very much part of a nurturing extended family where we all look out for each other and quickly spot where and when we need support. “

I can honestly say that it's the best school I’ve worked in, where morale is good and staff members feel happy to go to work every day, are those that are well managed, where each staff member is made to feel valued and has their strengths and skills identified and celebrated. This ultimately brings the best out in everyone and creates confident and happy members of staff.”

I have never worked in a place where staff wellbeing is such a huge priority. The support and range of different things that are available to staff is fantastic.”
