Position Overview
The Business Development Manager will play a key role in driving Aquila’s commercial growth across the Norwegian oil & gas landscape. The role will focus on identifying new business opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and positioning Aquila as a trusted partner to operators, EPCs, and service providers.
The ideal candidate will have strong commercial acumen, a solid understanding of the oil & gas and energy engineering industries, and established relationships within the Norwegian energy sector. Experience with upstream, well engineering, or project execution will be a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Market Expansion
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to expand Aquila’s footprint in Norway.
- Identify and pursue business opportunities with operators, EPCs, and service companies in oil & gas and emerging energy sectors.
- Support diversification into renewables, digital engineering, and decarbonization initiatives.
- Monitor energy industry trends, regulations, and market movements to identify new growth areas.
- Contribute to business planning with regional market insights and competitor analysis.
- Support strategic decisions on market entry and partnership development.
Client & Partner Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, including NOCs, IOCs, EPCs, and major service providers.Represent Aquila Engineering in client meetings, bids, and commercial negotiations.Maintain a pipeline of potential clients and manage long-term account relationships.Lead and coordinate proposal development, bids, and tenders.Negotiate commercial terms to balance growth and profitability.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to tailor engineering solutions for clients’ technical and commercial needs.Industry Representation
Represent Aquila at industry events, conferences, and trade shows in Norway and internationally.Promote the company’s brand through client engagement and industry networking.Performance & Reporting
Track business development KPIs, including revenue growth, client acquisition, and project pipeline progress.Provide regular updates to leadership on market activity and performance metrics.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related fieldProven experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles within the oil & gas or energy engineering sectorsStrong understanding or experience in upstream operations, including well engineering, drilling, or production servicesStrong network within Norway’s oil & gas ecosystem, including operators, EPCs, and service companiesDemonstrated ability to win new business or secure strategic contractsExcellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skillsFluent in English; Norwegian language skills are an advantageWillingness to travel within Norway (Mostly Oslo and Stavanger)Core Competencies
