Massterly AS is looking for a HSEQ Superintendent

Massterly, a joint venture between Kongsberg Maritime and Wilhelmsen, is a company with the core business of operating unmanned autonomous vessels. The operation builds on Wilhelmsen’s expertise in ship operation and Kongsberg Maritime’s technology. Massterly is now in the position where our pilot projects are entering final test phase, and the vessels are operating commercially. Massterly is positioning for growth, both in Norway and expanding globally, by strengthening our team with a HSEQ Superintendent. The position will report to COO and responsible for leading the HSEQ function of the company in close cooperation with Massterly owners.

Responsibilities

  • As HSEQ Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Massterly and its fleet operate in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards. Your main responsibilities will include :
  • Monitoring and following up compliance with relevant rules and regulations, with emphasis on ISM Code, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Conducting and following up vessel and office audits.
  • Developing and monitoring KPIs, statistics, and security matters.
  • Be a part of Massterly’s Emergency Response Team.
  • Responsibility for cybersecurity and serving as Company DPA and CSO when required.
  • Ensuring the fleet is updated on developments within the vetting industry and coordinating inspections (SIRE, OVID, RightShip) in line with charter party requirements.
  • Developing, maintaining, and continuously improving Massterly’s Safety Management System.
  • Following up client HSEQ requirements, as well as new standards and local requirements depending on the area of operation.
  • Participating in and driving projects related to the approval of new systems for autonomous vessel and ROC operations.

Qualifications

  • We are looking for a candidate with solid maritime experience and strong competence within quality, safety, and environmental management. You should have :
  • Relevant education in maritime studies, technology, quality / HSEQ, or similar.
  • Experience with HSEQ management, audits, and system compliance (ISM, ISO standards).
  • Strong knowledge of flag state, port state, and industry requirements.
  • Experience in emergency response and / or security roles (DPA / CSO) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and risk management.
  • The ability to combine attention to detail with a strategic mindset.
  • Good command of oral and written Norwegian and English
  • Good computer knowledge
  • Good interpersonal skills in order to develop close relationships with shipboard staff, vessel owners, charterers and auditing and inspecting bodies.
