Role of the Position
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine is seeking to expand the Psychiatry faculty. These positions include patient care in the outpatient clinics, consultation-liaison setting at our affiliate hospital with both adults, adolescents and children in addition to key leadership and education positions for medical student and resident education in the department.
Clinical practice in the department focuses on consultation-liaison services at our affiliate hospital and outpatient services at Mojave Counseling, a multidisciplinary community mental health clinic. Educational opportunities include working with residents and fellows in a clinical and didactic setting, medical school curriculum development and precepting for third- and fourth-year medical students.
The Department of Psychiatry in Las Vegas is responsible for the training of approximately 45 Psychiatry residents and fellows in general psychiatry residency and both child & adolescent and forensic psychiatry fellowships. The program’s consultation liaison service is affiliated with University Medical Center (UMC) and outpatient care is with Mojave Counseling, both of which offer a comprehensive mix of inpatient and ambulatory teaching experiences. The department's goal is to ensure that each resident and fellow possesses the knowledge, procedural skills, critical thinking and professionalism required to succeed as a psychiatrist.

Minimum Qualifications
Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date. Candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license, Nevada pharmacy and DEA licenses, and malpractice insurance. They must also meet credentialing requirements and be able to obtain privileges at affiliated hospitals and other site locations as needed.
