Overview
OSM Thome is looking for a HSEQ Manager to join our bulk segment in Norway, either in the Bergen or Arendal office. In this role, you’ll be the vital link between ship and shore - ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across our fleet.
You’ll lead the implementation of our Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management Systems in accordance with the ISM Code, MLC, and ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards. From audits and incident investigations to emergency preparedness and regulatory alignment, you’ll help shape a culture of excellence and accountability. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate vessel and office audits, inspections, and vetting processes.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and fleet-wide learning.
- Oversee emergency preparedness, drills, and shore-based response systems.
- Ensure compliance with ISM, MLC, ISO standards, and client-specific requirements.
- Monitor regulatory developments and support proactive compliance.
- Drive safety culture and continuous improvement initiatives across the Business Unit.
Qualifications
Higher education in maritime studies or equivalent experience as a Master Mariner, Senior Officer, or DPA / HSEQ Manager.3-5 years’ experience in handling commercial merchant shipping.Strong knowledge of the ISM Code, ISO 9001 / 14001 & 45001 and other maritime regulations.Proven track record in audits, vetting, and high-severity incident investigations.Fluent in written and spoken English.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.Personal Qualities
