Who we are :
The British Embassy in Oslo is part of the worldwide UK diplomatic network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are seeking to recruit an Economic and Energy Policy Adviser .
What are we looking for :
This role sits within the British Embassy’s Prosperity Team. The team leads on economic affairs, climate, energy and science and innovation, and aims to support UK-Norway collaboration within these areas, working closely with the Embassy political and trade teams.
The Economic and Energy Policy Adviser supports the UK’s strategic interests in Norway by providing expert analysis on energy and economic developments, facilitating bilateral engagement, and contributing to policy reporting and advocacy. The successful candidate will work closely with UK government departments including HM Treasury, DESNZ and FCDO, Norwegian stakeholders, and international partners to advance shared priorities in energy transition, economic resilience, and bilateral cooperation strengthening economic growth opportunities in both countries. The role supports the broad delivery of Prosperity Team objectives and assists the Head of Team. The role requires regular stakeholder engagement across the Norwegian government, industries, agencies, media and other sectors, and regular engagement with and reporting to UK government stakeholders. The role requires a great degree of independency in shaping priorities, self-drive and close collaboration with Embassy colleagues from the Department for Business and Trade and Political Affairs teams.

This is a full-time permanent position, five working days (currently 35 hours net) per week.
