BI Norwegian Business School invites applications for the position of Professor in Data Science at the Department of Data Science and Analytics.
The department aims to be a leading hub for innovation and knowledge in data science and analytics, blending deep technical expertise with strong business understanding. We prioritize interdisciplinary collaboration, research excellence, and impactful teaching and student supervision. BI is a proud member of the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium (NORA), which fosters collaboration in AI research and education across 15 partner institutions.
Through its academic work, BI aims to make its mark in the international research community while developing our students’ academic competence and skills. Relevance and impact on practice will be ensured through extensive contact with business and industry. Teaching must be based on the cutting edge of research, show practical relevance for working life, and develop both academic competence and skills in the students.
The Department of Data Science and Analytics at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo invites applications for a professor position in Data Science. We welcome applicants from diverse fields within data science, with a strong preference for those specializing in business analytics, machine learning, statistical learning, and artificial intelligence, particularly their applications to business contexts. The preferred start date is Fall 2025.

Our faculty is expected to provide teaching and supervision of a high academic and pedagogical quality and is expected to continuously develop their teaching skills, e.g., by making use of new technology, new ways of learning, and new forms of assessment. We focus on quality and competence development, and pedagogical activities should be continuously documented, supporting the process for further academic career development to all positions.
For all positions with research duty at BI, there is a (minimum) expectation that the research production over a three-year period should on average result in at least 1 accepted / published article or equivalent that is original, well-conducted, and thoroughly peer-reviewed. Normally, there should be publications at level ABS 3 or higher, at NSD level 2 (or equivalent within the subject area), which qualify as original and well executed.
Those employed in a scientific position will also have teaching and pedagogical development responsibilities. In addition to traditional teaching, the position includes the development of courses, learning activities, forms of evaluation, and guidance.
