Job purpose
The Special Projects Engineer is responsible for executing complex, non-routine engineering initiatives that support the design, integration, and optimisation of power generation systems. This role bridges technical expertise with project management to deliver tailored solutions for customer-specific requirements, new product developments, and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a small, focused team to deliver Special Projects efficiently, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are consistently met.
- Liaise with the Special Projects Manager to prioritise and schedule workload, maximising team productivity and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Special Projects Manager and Board of Directors, enabling informed decision-making and transparency across the business.
- Support Business Development Managers during customer visits and presentations by offering technical insight and expertise, helping to secure new business opportunities and strengthen client relationships.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to engineering staff, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and promoting best practice across the organisation.
- Assist engineers on and off-site, including with routine servicing, load banking, and repair activities, to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and equipment reliability.
- Collaborate with Power Electrics building maintenance teams to support the smooth running of infrastructure and equipment, minimising downtime and ensuring a safe, reliable working environment.
- Comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001 : 2015 procedures, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.
