Oslo University Hospital (OUS) is Norways largest hospital with over 20 000 employees and a budget of 20 billion NOK. It is a local hospital for parts of Oslo's population. It has a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, and it also has a large number of national functions. The Hospital is responsible for the majority of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway. OUS is the only internationally accredited Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) in Norway.

The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway's largest research and educational institution with 28 000 students and 7 000 employees. Professional breadth and internationally recognized research environments make UiO an important contributor to society. The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1814 and is Norway's oldest medical faculty. The Faculty works for progressive education, research and dissemination for the patients and societys best interests. It is organized into three basic units and has approximately 1 500 employees (about 1 000 work years) and about 2 000 students.

A permanent position as Senior Consultant in Breast and Endocrine Surgery is available at the Section of Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Department of Cancer Surgery, Division of Cancer Medicine, Oslo University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Professor II SKO 1013 / Associate Professor SKO 1011 (20 % position) in Medicine (Breast and Endocrine Surgery) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO). It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.

Kvalifikasjoner :

Short description of work tasks for the senior consultant position :

• Contribute to routine clinical activities in the Breast and Endocrine surgical consultant team and participate in all aspects of treatment and follow-up of adult patients with breast and thyroid malignancies.
• Contribute to improve the standard of care for adult-onset breast and thyroid malignancies with the ambition to position the Unit at a high international level in clinical management of this heterogeneous and difficult-to-treat patient group.
• Contribute to better integration of clinical activities and research.
• Opportunity to participate in the Units on call system for consultants.
• Contribute to continuing medical education by taking on teaching tasks at the Unit, at the Hospital and, when indicated, at relevant external meetings.
• Contribute to educational activities organized by the Unit for the benefit of patients, relatives, and the public.
• Contribute to quality improvement activities.
