The Group Vice President, Head of Channels, Nordic is responsible for setting and implementing the strategic direction & goals, and leading the programming & planning operations, of the local Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) linear channel portfolios in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, General Manager, Nordic and part of the Nordic leadership team, the Group Vice President, Head of Channels has specific responsibility for :
The development and implementation of the content & investment strategy
The performance and development of the linear channel portfolios
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain an ambitious vision and long-range plan for the Nordic channel portfolio at both regional and local level, with specific responsibility for identifying tactical opportunities, implementing strategic recommendations, setting and delivering against KPIs
Lead & develop the programme planning and media planning teams, clearly defining their priorities and KPIs
Lead the programming strategy and define the Networks content requirements to deliver performance (ad revenue) and cost requirements. Manage schedules and investments to budget, adapting as necessary in short to long-term
Lead the development and implementation of the Networks content strategy for the region, and partner with streaming content strategy & analysis in development of the Nordic streaming content strategy. Specifically lead the local understanding of the value generated by content investments and develop the optimum investment strategy to generate maximum value for the Networks business :
1. Partner with the content lead to develop content production slates and schedules which are brand, consumer and data led, and which drive viewer engagement and viewing
2. Work with stakeholders in local teams in the identification and acquisition of content to drive performance of channel schedules and portfolios; specifically including and prioritizing licensing opportunities from the Warner library
Lead the operation of the PIC process for the region, including internal pre-PIC processes with the Nordic senior team, and partner with local and central teams to revise and improve the process for content investment approval and KPIs
Partner with key stakeholders to review and define the ongoing positioning and role of channels with local portfolios, including clearly defining the number, scope and value of secondary channels within markets
Partner with key stakeholders in advertising sales and distribution to optimise the performance and value of the channel portfolios to generate advertising inventory and in preparation for affiliate deals
Develop a strong working relationship with key streaming leadership teams to understand and compliment the streaming content strategy locally, and to identify windowing and scheduling opportunities which benefit both business functions
Build and maintain relationships with channel & network heads around the global business to share insights & learnings, and to identify content sharing and\or windowing opportunities. Lead local Network focused projects for the business
Your Experience
Extensive relevant experience in a programming / content strategy / channel management role
Solid knowledge of the Nordic market and demonstrated experience dealing with complex matters in the region
Analytical mindset and robust financial understanding, with extensive experience in a strategy focused role
Excellent stakeholder management experience and the ability to partner closely with senior executives
Excellent communication skills
Experience working within an international environment is preferred, with a global mindset approach
